"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." - CCC 1213
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of faith, commitment and discipleship. Therefore, it is very important for parents to know what they are undertaking in asking that their child be baptized in the Catholic Faith. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish of the St. Margaret Mary, ideally for six months prior to arranging for the baptism of their child.
In selecting who will be a godparent for the Baptism, parents should keep in mind that a godparent must have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion; be a registered member of a Catholic Church; attend weekly Mass; and practice our Catholic faith with integrity. If married, the godparent must have been married according to the laws of the Catholic Church.
Baptisms are held the fourth Sunday of the month. To schedule, please call the parish office ONE MONTH PRIOR to anticipated date. (828) 686-8833
