“Baptism, the door to life and to the Kingdom, is the first Sacrament of the New Law, which Christ offered to all that they might have Eternal Life and which, together with the Gospel, he later entrusted to his Church, when he commanded his Apostles: ‘Go, teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit’” (Order of Baptism of Children, 3).
Adults seeking to be baptized in the Catholic faith should call the parish office at 828-686-8833 for additional information concerning the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (R.C.I.A.) classes.
At St. Margaret Mary’s, infant baptisms take place on the First and Third Saturdays of the month in general.
Parents who, for the first time, request to have their child baptized at St. Margaret Mary’s are required to go through a Baptismal Preparation Class. This is typically offered on Saturdays.
For a baptism to be scheduled, families must be registered members actively participating in the parish for at least six months. For exceptions, consult with Father Becker.
To schedule your child's baptism and find out more about the Preparation Series, contact the parish office at (828) 686-8833.
If your child is 7 years old or older, please contact our Faith Formation Director for more information on Sacramental Preparation Classes for your child: faithformation.stmargaretmary@gmail.com.
